About

I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) with 18 years of experience in the construction industry, specialising in construction disputes, quantum analysis, and cost-related expert evidence. My work focuses on the evaluation and quantification of claims involving variations, extension of time, loss and expense, and other financial matters arising from construction projects.

I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Testifying Expert Witness with 18 years of experience in construction project delivery, contract advisory and dispute resolution. My work centres on helping clients understand and resolve complex construction cost and contractual issues. I have been involved in a wide range of projects including infrastructure works, land reclamation, oil and gas facilities, and major commercial and residential developments. In practice, I focus on transforming complex technical and quantum issues into clear, defensible, and commercially sound solutions. I have represented and advised multinational developers, main contractors, and specialist subcontractors in resolving disputes through litigation, arbitration, and adjudication. In addition to dispute practice, I serve as a RICS APC Assessor, contributing to the evaluation of candidates seeking chartered status. I focus on competency standards, professional judgement and interview defensibility. From time to time, I provide structured readiness guidance to candidates approaching final assessment. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (FMIArb), Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Member of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (MRISM), and a Certified Quantity Surveyor (CQS). I am empanelled as an Arbitrator, Mediator and Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), a Certified Mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre (MMC), and previously as Vice President of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators and Disciplinary Committee Member with the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board, where I contributed to the strengthening of professional and ethical standards.

Methodology & Approach

My approach to expert work is grounded in independence, objectivity, and a clear understanding of the contractual and factual context of the dispute. I begin by reviewing the relevant contract provisions and project records to understand the issues in question. From there, I apply established quantity surveying and commercial principles to analyse the matters in dispute, particularly those relating to extension of time implications, valuation of works, variations, and other cost-related impacts. Throughout the process, my focus is on presenting the quantum issues in a clear, structured, and impartial manner to assist the tribunal or court in understanding the financial aspects of the dispute.

Testimonies

I was appointed as the Quantum Expert Witness in an arbitration involving a dispute between a main contractor and a government employer on a major construction project. My role was to provide independent expert evidence on the quantum aspects of the dispute. In this capacity, the matters I addressed included extension of time (EOT) implications, assessment of work done, valuation of variation orders, loss and expense, and the quantification of loss of profit arising from the disputed works and project delays. I prepared an independent expert report setting out my analysis, methodology, and conclusions, and subsequently provided oral testimony during the arbitration hearing, where I explained the basis of my findings and responded to questions from counsel and the tribunal.
