Managed retail cybersecurity, PCI-DSS, and PCI-PIN assessments and compliance. Collaborated with PCI QSA, network providers, POS vendors, Retail Merchants, and Payment Brands to ensure architectures were meeting requirements and resolve any issues. Served as SME for anything regarding the retail sites and/or compliance. Documented all aspects of the physical retail sites to provide valid, detailed information regarding site-level architecture, security, and compliance, as well as network capabilities between sites and the Chevron Gateway/host. Key Accomplishments: • Certified PCI ISA (twice) • Elected to Conexxus Board of advisors (chairman) • Corrected multiple mis-diagnosed issues preventing full PCI-DSS & PCI-PIN inventory of retail sites. Visa complemented our inventory detail and thoroughness. • Spearheaded retail site transition to EMV; collaborating with three POS vendors and 4 POS systems covering 1500 merchants, and 8000 sites. • Troubleshot and solved technical design issue that delayed EMV deployment of Chevron-Canada for more than a year. Key Accomplishments: • Redesigned entire POS software deployment methodology, resulting in improved fault tolerance, reliability, and enhanced troubleshooting. • Redesigned POS software development and maintenance environment resulting in reduced testing time requirements and increasing annual software release cycles. CellFire, a digital coupon provider. • San Jose, CA • 2008-2011 CPG ARCHITECT Architected digital, electronic couponing system to provide CPG coupons to consumers for automatic redemption at tier 1 Grocery retailers. Industry SME for POS, paper coupon and digital offer creation, publication, redemption, and clearing. Key Accomplishments: • Consulted with tier 1 grocer and discovered they were not being reimbursed for any digital offers redeemed. Assisted with the required changes to allow reimbursement to occur. • Designed and implemented solution to automate manual processing of CPG offer data, eliminating hours of daily manual labor, while improving results. Pay By Touch, a biometric technology provider. • San Francisco, CA • 2005-2008 SYSTEMS ARCHITECT Designed biometric authentication for Tier-1 retail/fuel environments. Collaborated cross-functionally in the development of an efficient, reliable biometric authentication solution for both consumer and merchant. Scrutinized existing systems, and recommended augmentations. Key Accomplishments: • Constructed an environment to reduce both our and retailer requirements and expenses, resulting in improved retailer acceptance. • Bolstered quality of POS testing by creating a test lab emulating retailer environment and consumer experience Costco Wholesale, a chain of membership-only warehouse clubs.• Issaquah, WA • 2003-2005 POS ARCHITECT Evaluated 4690, led software development processes and standards. Quality Assured all design and code for department projects. Key Accomplishments: • Designed and Implemented software project artifacts and processes, resulting in improved project control. Key Accomplishments: • Implemented first NIST certified POS shared display, showing running receipt, totals, and scale. • Implemented first post-print functionality for customer receipt. • Produced 4690 software release utility programs supporting automation and remote software deployment reducing store downtime by a factor of 16. • Designed and implemented truly remote, hands-off software deployment environment.

Using my years of experience in various hardware, software, and networking environments and disciplines, I find the facts, and disclose them to my council, regardless of whether it helps or hurts our case. That is the job. It is the attorney's job to decide what to use.

Provided expert testimony in coupon clearing house patent infringement case. Opposing expert witness was a university professor. After reviewing his testimony and the many inconsistencies and inaccuracies, my council felt confident enough to go to court. Opposing council conceded and entered into agreements with our client.
