About
Over a decade of experience writing about conspiracy theories, internet culture, and the spread of disinformation to help lay audiences understand difficult concepts and ideas. Often used as first contact with media to talk about current events through the lens of disinformation
Renowned journalist specializing in writing about fringe beliefs, conspiracy theories, scams, antisemitism, and disinformation. Extensive history of published work, including three books and hundreds of articles. Have appeared as subject matter expert on international TV and radio, including CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and the BBC. Interviewed or featured the New York Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, USA Today, and many other news outlets and podcasts. Experience as an expert witness, speaker, academic panelist, and consultant.
Methodology & Approach
I boil down extremely esoteric concepts driving commerce and culture, taking ideas that make no sense and turning them into comprehensible narratives for readers and attorneys. My work is based in documentation and evidence, using social media and internet archives to prove claims, and taking a humanistic and empathetic approach to ideas that are often hateful and bizarre.
Expert Witness Experience
I have provided written testimony and reports in numerous cases involving internet-driven defamation, conspiracy theories, and antisemitism, working with both plaintiffs defending themselves against rumors and hoaxes, and defendants wrongly accused of defamation. My clients have included major companies and public figures on both sides of litigation
